DAVE SPECK

Dave Speck

Dave is a former journalist who has worked on some of the nation’s biggest news stories over 25 years.

But he gave it all up for the love of acting- and went off to train at Drama Studio London, aged 50, where he rediscovered his youth (as well as a love of Shakespeare, yoga and the All Electric café off Ealing Broadway).

He is a Yorkshireman who enjoys playing the grounded, working-class struggler using his native Hull accent. He has also performed in Glaswegian and General American accents (and does a mean Transylvanian accent as Dracula).

His stage credits include a six-month tour of number one theatres in the UK and Ireland (as actor, understudy and ASM) in The Verdict (2023). And he was in the debut of Monologues of Men (at The Old Red Lion, 2026) which explores the mental health struggles men often suppress.

His feature film credits include Marriage of the Lamb (for EWTN) in which he played 16th Century York butcher John Clitherow. He also played Morrow in the Nigerian crime thriller Catching a Thief.

Dave’s commercial work includes playing Barry the “vegan butcher” for the THIS (is not meat) Christmas social media campaign in 2025. And he plays love rat Billy in the Vertical branded drama, Hormann Street.

He’s done lots of immersive theatre, including the role of Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace, and he has played Santa at Kew Gardens Christmas Lights for the last few years, where he has become affectionately known as “the northerm Santa”.

He is very proud to be a Westie.
